Tomorrow will mark 16 weeks!
The last month has been an up and down battle of trying to get better and get back to eating and drinking! The first 2 weeks were rough, not easy, and I felt my stomach was put through the spin cycle on high! The medication I'm on is helpful, but I have had some side affects including: a numb mouth, cramping, low blood pressure, and not being able to sleep. However, anything is better than before and being able to eat and drink is the result! I have gained 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks and that's great considering I lost about 12-13lbs and a stone for you in England! Maybe the up-side to having been so ill is that I won't gain that much weight in the end because I lost so much to start out with...we'll see.
This morning, I've just been back from an encouraging appt with my doctor. She was really sweet, which I needed today, and she let Guy and I hear the heart beat of our baby! We haven't been offered this at our scans or by anyone before, but she had the tool in her office and let us hear! Amazing! She said the baby is moving up, showed me where it is on my tummy, and let us hear the baby! It was so exciting for me and weird to hear a human being inside of me with a fast, working heart. It made everything seem so real and not like it's just been some illness I've feverishly invented for myself. It really was fantastic and Guy and I were thrilled to hear our baby for the first time.

12 week scan...
We had our 12 week scan and it was amazing to see how much our baby developed in the time span of 2 weeks! Its head is rounder and it is bigger. He or she was content in "The Thinker" pose which the staff at the hospital found quite funny! I think this baby is a jokester as it has been pretty active on the scans and been a trouble-maker so far with keeping me pretty ill. It was exciting for us to see as he moved around from his thinker pose to others and back again!
